Edgewood College
Boasting a dynamic community of learners from all backgrounds, Edgewood College brags an inclusive body of young stars who share values and beliefs; actively engaging in learning from one another – learners from teachers, teachers from learners and learners from learners. Ours is a fellowship of young intellects enjoying a learning-centred environment in which everyone is actively and intentionally constructing knowledge together.
Edgewood College’s philosophy is that learning communities should be connected, cooperative and supportive. We are convicted to that peers are interdependent and that they have a joint responsibility for learning and sharing resources and points of views; while sustaining a mutually respectful and cohesive environment.
Our Founder
Behind the founding philosophy of Edgewood College is Lungisani Mavundla; an accountant by qualification who started his professional career as a Customer Care Consultant and later a Multi-Skilled Expert at FNB Branch Banking in Durban after which he was promoted to being an Admin Manager at First Rand Card Division in Johannesburg. A financial and cost management specialist, Mavundla leverages on corporate management experience and exposure; having served as a Senior Cost Controller at Anglo Platinum Corporate Head Office where he was specializing in cost allocation and asset management.
An established businessman and youth activist, Mavundla is a founding member and managing director in a variety of corporations including Exemption Matric Centre; one of the leading matric tuition centres in South Africa. He is also an icon member of Rural Students Association which is a movement of students and young professionals from rural and historically disadvantaged townships equipping rural learners with tertiary access and success information as well as financial assistance. His NPO, Rural Right NPC, has a network of more than 3000 schools in KZN with which he has a relationship on mentorship and motivation of kids.
A media personality and entrepreneur, Lungisani Mavundla’s experience spans across owning his mass media and communications company, Mavundla Media, which specializes on online and electronic broadcasting of, as well as, live performances of artists in various genres as well as other works of speech. He is a multi-award winning author with his own publishing company called Topnotch Communications which also is an events management company. His media career includes being a Principal Writer at Ukhozi FM Drama Department to which he is also a contributor on matters written and spoken word. His radio career brags being a breakfast show content producer and co-host on Izwi Lomzansi FM where he also had his own show as a radio presenter.
